John Rizzo

John Rizzo has 10 years of experience leading tours in Africa and thrives on introducing its wonders to others. Small group sizes from 2  to 10 people keep the tours intimate and personalized. Since there is a lot to see and  many people want to take photos, we recommend you bring the equipment you like and are familiar with . However, we will also have equipment on hand for you to use too. All tours include photography lessons to help you get the photos you want.

Giraffes in Ngorongoro Crater

Massai giraffes in Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania

All species of giraffes are native to Africa and they are the tallest animals on earth. Other animals like to stay nearby them, since their height gives an advantage for an early warning of danger. These Massai giraffes in Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania live on the highest part of the volcanic crater due to the fact that the steep drop to the basin is too hard for them to navigate. There are three types of giraffes in Kenya and Tanzania: the reticulated giraffe, the Massai giraffe and the Rothschild giraffe. The Rothschild giraffe if the most endangered with an estimate wild population of only 1,671 in 2016. In 1983, the Giraffe Centre in Nairobi was opened as a breeding and conservancy program for the Rothschild’s giraffe.
